Getting started

What CompoundList is, what chemical pages show and how accounts work

What is CompoundList?

CompoundList is a global chemical marketplace and directory. You can look up chemicals by name, CAS number, formula or structure, see who makes or sells them, compare offers and send a request for quote to several suppliers at once.

Is CompoundList free to use?

Yes for buyers. Searching, reading chemical pages, contacting suppliers and posting requests for quote are always free. Suppliers can list up to 25 products for free and can choose a yearly membership for more listings, buy leads and visibility.

Does CompoundList sell chemicals itself?

No. CompoundList connects buyers with suppliers. Contracts, invoices, shipping and payment are agreed directly between the buyer and the supplier. We check supplier details, moderate listings and step in when someone reports a problem.

How accurate is the chemical data?

We check CAS numbers before they reach a page, mark each property as measured or computed and label safety summaries as not an SDS. Structure drawings are generated by us. Data can still contain errors, so confirm critical values with the supplier's documents and tell us if something looks wrong.

Is the safety information on chemical pages a safety data sheet?

No. Chemical pages show a summary of published hazard classifications for orientation only. It is not an SDS. Always ask your supplier for the current SDS of the exact product and grade you are buying.

Which countries can use CompoundList?

Buyers and suppliers from every country can register. Visitors in India see prices in Indian rupees and visitors from every other country see US dollars. Some chemicals are restricted or blocked worldwide, see the controlled substances policy.

How do I verify my email address?

We send a 6 digit code to your email address when you register. Enter it on the verification screen to activate your account. The code expires after 10 minutes and you can request a new one. We do not use SMS or phone codes.

How do I contact the CompoundList team?

Use the contact page or write to support@compoundlist.com for help with your account. For memberships and advertising write to sales@compoundlist.com. For profile claims and verification write to suppliers@compoundlist.com.

Buying chemicals

Searching, requests for quote, comparing offers and contacting suppliers

How do I get quotes from several suppliers at once?

Open a chemical page and press Get quotes, or go to Post a request for quote. Describe the product, grade, quantity, packing, destination and delivery terms. We send your request to up to 10 matching suppliers and you compare their quotes side by side in your dashboard.

Will suppliers see my phone number and email?

No. Your contact details stay masked while suppliers quote. They are shared only with the supplier whose quote you accept. Until then all conversation happens through CompoundList messages.

Can I upload a list of chemicals for one bulk quote?

Yes. Use Bulk quote from a list to paste or upload a spreadsheet of names or CAS numbers with quantities. We match each line to a chemical, show you anything we could not match and send the request to suppliers who carry those products.

How long does a request for quote stay open?

Requests stay open for 30 days by default. You can close a request early once you have the quotes you need, or extend it from your dashboard.

Can I ask for a sample before ordering?

Yes, when the supplier offers samples. Look for the Request sample button on the product page. Sample terms such as quantity, cost and courier charges are set by each supplier.

What does Unclaimed profile mean on a supplier page?

It means the company has not yet taken control of its profile on CompoundList. Product lists on unclaimed profiles are price on request. Treat them as a starting point and verify the company before you buy. A company representative can claim the profile with an official email address on the company's own website domain.

How do I save chemicals and set price alerts?

Sign in and press Save on any chemical, product or supplier. Saved items appear in your dashboard. On a chemical page you can also set an alert to be told when new offers or price changes appear.

Does CompoundList handle payment or escrow?

Not yet. Payment is agreed directly with the supplier. We plan to add an optional trade assurance service later. Until then, use payment terms you are comfortable with, such as a letter of credit for a first order with a new supplier.

Selling on CompoundList

Listing products, claiming a profile, buy leads and your company page

How do I start selling on CompoundList?

Register as a supplier, verify your email with the code we send, add your company details and list your first products. Free accounts can list up to 25 products and receive direct inquiries from buyers.

My company already has a profile. How do I claim it?

Only an authorised person at the company can claim it. Register free, then find your company on the claim page and claim it with your official business email address on your company's own website domain. Our team verifies every claim and activates the profile, and you get the result by email. Claims are not approved instantly. We usually reply within two working days.

Can I upload my whole catalogue at once?

Yes, on the Verified, Gold and Platinum plans. Download the template, fill in your products with CAS numbers, grades and packing, and upload the Excel or CSV file. We match each row to a chemical and flag rows that need your attention before they go live.

What are buy leads and how do lead credits work?

Buy leads are requests for quote posted by buyers. Every supplier can see a summary of each lead, such as the product, quantity and destination country. Unlocking a lead to respond uses one lead credit. Paid plans include a set number of unlocks every month, and credit packs are available for extra leads.

How is the order of suppliers on a chemical page decided?

Organic positions use a documented score: your plan's ranking weight (Free 1x, Verified 2x, Gold 4x, Platinum 6x), verification level, response rate and speed, listing completeness, how recently you updated prices and listings, and buyer ratings. The weights are published on the Sell on CompoundList page. In search, relevance to the words comes first. Up to three sponsored TopRank positions are shown separately above the organic list, always labelled Sponsored, and a sponsored listing that is out of date is not shown.

Which products are not allowed on CompoundList?

Narcotics, psychotropic substances, scheduled chemical weapons precursors, explosives and other controlled items are blocked. Some regulated chemicals can be listed only after document checks. The controlled substances policy explains the rules in full.

Can I add documents such as COA, TDS and SDS to my products?

Yes. Verified members can attach one document per product and Gold and Platinum members can attach as many as they need. Buyers download them from your product pages.

Can several people from my company use the same account?

Yes. Invite colleagues from the Team page in your supplier dashboard. The number of team seats depends on your plan, from one seat on Free up to 25 seats on Platinum.

How do I get the Verified badge?

Choose a paid plan and complete verification. We check your company registration or tax ID against the official register and confirm that the person applying works for the company. The badge shows the date of the last check.

Trust and safety

Verification badges, controlled substances, scams and reporting

How does CompoundList check suppliers?

Paid members are checked against official company registers or tax records, and we confirm that the applicant works for the company. Platinum members also complete a factory video audit. Badges show what was checked and when.

Are reviews on CompoundList genuine?

Only buyers who sent a request for quote on CompoundList, received a quote from the supplier and marked the order as placed can leave a review. We do not write reviews ourselves, and suppliers cannot pay to remove a fair review. Each supplier may reply once, and reviews that break the rules can be reported.

How do I report a suspicious listing or supplier?

Use the Report link on any listing, supplier page or message, or write to compliance@compoundlist.com. Tell us what happened and attach any documents. We review every report and act on listings that break our rules.

What should I do before paying a new supplier?

Check the company on the official register, ask for a sample and a batch specific certificate of analysis, confirm bank details by phone using a number from the company's own website, and avoid paying the full amount in advance on a first order.

Does a Verified badge mean CompoundList guarantees the supplier?

No. The badge means we checked the company's identity and registration on the date shown. It is not a guarantee of product quality or delivery. Always agree specifications, inspection and payment terms in your contract.

How do you handle controlled and dangerous chemicals?

Controlled substances such as narcotic precursors and chemical weapons precursors are blocked or allowed only after document checks. Requests that look like misuse are stopped and may be reported to the authorities.

How do I correct wrong information about my company or a chemical?

Company owners can claim their profile with their official company email and edit it once our team has verified the claim. For chemical data or anything else, use the report link on the page or write to support@compoundlist.com with the correct information and a source, and we will review it.

Plans and pricing

Yearly memberships, lead credits, TopRank and advertising

Are there monthly plans?

No. All supplier memberships are yearly. One payment covers twelve months, which keeps the price lower and gives buyers a stable list of committed suppliers.

Why do I see prices in rupees or in dollars?

Visitors in India see prices in Indian rupees and visitors from every other country see US dollars. Indian prices exclude 18 percent GST, which is added at checkout.

What is the difference between the Verified, Gold and Platinum plans?

Verified adds the verified badge, 500 listings, bulk upload and 10 buy lead unlocks a month. Gold adds 5,000 listings, 50 unlocks a month, sample requests, TopRank on 3 chemicals and rotating featured spots. Platinum adds unlimited listings, 200 unlocks a month, TopRank on 10 chemicals, an included factory video audit and a dedicated account manager.

Can I upgrade in the middle of my membership year?

Yes. When you upgrade we credit the unused value of your current plan against the new plan, so you only pay the difference. Your new yearly term starts on the day of the upgrade.

Can I buy lead credits without a membership?

Yes. Credit packs are available to every supplier, including Free accounts. Each credit unlocks one buy lead so you can see the buyer's full request and send a quote.

What is TopRank?

TopRank lets a supplier take one of up to three sponsored positions at the top of a chemical's supplier list. Gold and Platinum plans include TopRank on a set number of chemicals and more can be booked separately. Sponsored positions are always labelled.

How much does advertising cost?

Banner placements on the homepage, category and industry pages, chemical pages, search results and the newsletter are booked as campaigns of 1 to 12 months, and every price is shown as the total for the campaign. See the advertise page for current rates and available dates, or write to sales@compoundlist.com.

Billing, invoices and GST

Payments, tax invoices, renewals and refunds

Which payment methods do you accept?

Indian customers can pay by UPI, cards, net banking and bank transfer. Customers in other countries can pay by international card or bank transfer. Larger payments can also be settled by bank transfer against a proforma invoice.

Do I get a GST invoice?

Yes. Indian customers receive a GST compliant tax invoice with our GSTIN and yours if you add it at checkout. Customers outside India receive an invoice in USD. Invoices are available in your billing page and are also sent to your billing email.

Does my membership renew automatically?

Not by itself, and we never charge a card automatically. Memberships are paid once a year. With automatic renewal on, the default, we email renewal reminders 30, 7 and 1 days before the end date, each with a one-click renewal link. Renew early and the new 12 months start when the current term ends. You can turn automatic renewal off at any time in your billing page. We then send one reminder a week before the end date, and your plan stays active until the end of the paid year.

Can I get a refund?

First time purchases of a yearly membership can be cancelled for a full refund within 7 days, as described in the refund policy. After that, memberships are not refunded for the remaining months, except where the policy or the law says otherwise.

What happens if I do not renew in time?

Your plan and its badges stay active for a 7 day grace period after the end date, and we email you with a one-click renewal link. If the membership is still not renewed after that, the account moves to the Free plan. Listings above the Free limit are hidden, not deleted, and come back when you renew.

How do I change the billing name, address or GSTIN on my invoices?

Update your billing details in the supplier dashboard before you pay. If an invoice has already been issued with wrong details, write to billing@compoundlist.com within the same month and we will issue a corrected invoice where the tax rules allow it.

Do unused lead credits expire?

Monthly unlocks included in a plan are for that month and do not roll over. Credits from a purchased pack stay in your account for 12 months from the purchase date.
