Medication: in dermatitis & jaundice due to arsphenamine.

In sulfur fungicides.

As a component of the fungicide and insecticide lime sulfur (ca 5% calcium thiosulfate) used as standard dormant spray for control of the San Jose scale (Aspidiotus perniciosus) and for other scales and various plant diseases.

Fungicide formualtions, a noncorrosive concrete-set accelerator, and a catalyst for polyolefin mfg.

Industrial uses: Soil amendments (fertilizers), Leaching agent, Other.

How it is made

Has been prepared from calcium sulfite and sulfur at 30-40 °C, or from boiling lime and sulfur in the presence of sulfur dioxide...alternatively, a concn solution of sodium thiosulfate is reacted with calcium chloride...concn solutions of calcium thiosulfate are prepared from ammonium thiosulfate and lime
