How it is made
Diels-alder reaction of hexachlorocyclopentadiene with maleic anhydride
The starting material is the fully chlorinated dicyclopentadiene cracked to monomeric hexachlorocyclopentadiene, which is then converted via Diels-Alder reaction with maleic anhydride to a reactive bicyclic anhydride, known as chlorendic anhydride.
