How it is made

May be obtained by electrolysis of heavy water (obtained by hydrogen sulfide/water exchange process) or by fractional distillation of liq hydrogen: Urey et al, Phys Rev, 39, 164 (1932), Spevack, US patent 2,787,526 (1957 to USAEC).
