Uses and applications

What the substance is used for, by industry and function

Isofenphos, marketed under the basic producer's trade name Oftanol, is currently used in the United States on turf & ornamental trees & shrubs to control white grubs, mole crickets, & other insects (mostly subterranean species). According to recent usage data, about 60% of the Isofenphos active ingredient produced annually is used on golf courses, the remainder is used on residential & public turf sites. Isofenphos ... was first registered in the United States in 1980 by Bayer Corporation for use on corn for control of the corn rootworm. In recent years, all of the food uses & the various residential indoor uses (including the termiticide use) were dropped by the basic producer. ... The remaining turf & ornamental uses of the pesticide are now no longer supported. ... All food tolerances for Isofenphos have been revoked (effective January 1999).

Insecticide, control of cabbage root flies, onion flies, corn rootworms, white grubs, wireworms, and other soil insects. (Former use).
