Uses and applications
What the substance is used for, by industry and function
Intermediate for silicones.
How it is made
The wide variety of organosilanes are most commonly prepared through reaction of inorganic and organochlorosilanes with Grignard reagents. The Grignard reagent is utilized to transfer organic groups to silicon. By varying the silane and organic moiety of the Grignard, a large number of organosilanes can be synthesized in good-to-excellent yields. In general this process is very versatile and more easily directed than direct process or disproportionation reactions. (Organosilanes)
