It has a role as an EC 3.4.15.1 (peptidyl-dipeptidase A) inhibitor and an antihypertensive agent. It is an ethyl ester, an organic heterobicyclic compound, a dicarboxylic acid monoester and an alpha-amino acid ester. It is a conjugate acid of a perindopril(1-).

Perindopril is a long-acting ACE inhibitor used to treat high blood pressure, heart failure, or stable coronary artery disease.
