Pharmacology

Strontium is an element with atomic symbol Sr, atomic number 38, and atomic weight 87.62.

How it is made

Thermal reduction of the oxide with metallic aluminum (strontium aluminum alloy formed), and distilling the strontium in a vacuum.

Variant of the Pidgeon process: reaction of strontium oxide and aluminum is produced under vacuum where the strontium evolves as a gas and is transported through the production retort to a cooler end where it precipitates as a solid.
