It has a role as an agrochemical and a pyrethroid ester insecticide. It is a nitrile, an aromatic ether, an organochlorine compound, an organofluorine compound and a cyclopropanecarboxylate ester. It is functionally related to a 3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid.
