How it is made
Prepn from isodrin: H. Bluestone, US pat 2,676,132 (1943 to Shell), Marks, US pat 2,899,446 (1959 to Velsicol).
Prepn: endrin is produced by condensing hexachlorocyclopentadiene with vinyl chloride to produce heptachlorbicyclo-(2.2.1)-2-heptene. This is condensed with cyclopentadiene to form isodrin & that is oxidized to the 6,7-epoxide with peracetic or perbenzoic acid.
