Flumetsulam is a broad-spectrum, season-long herbicide used in the control of broadleaf weeds in soybeans, corn, and other major crops. Flumetsulam is applied as a soil-incorporated preplanting, preemergence, or postemergence herbicide depending on the formulation, at a maximum use rate of 80 g per hectare.

A selective inhibitor of acetolactate synthase, a key enzyme in branched chain amino acid biosynthesis.

Flumetsulam can be made by reaction of 5- methyl[1,2,4]triazolo-2-sulfonylchloride with 2,6-difluoroaniline in the presence of a base.
