Herbicides

Most herbicides are sold as a technical grade active ingredient at a defined minimum purity, for example glyphosate acid at 95 percent, and as salts or esters that improve solubility or uptake, such as glyphosate isopropylamine or potassium salt and 2,4-D dimethylamine salt or ethylhexyl ester. Prices are often compared on an acid equivalent basis, so check the basis used in each quote.

Ask for the minimum purity, relevant impurities that regulators limit (for example formaldehyde and N-nitrosoglyphosate in glyphosate), moisture and the source plant. For generic registration you will need a five-batch analysis and proof of equivalence. Weed resistance and drift rules are changing the products farmers use, and some herbicides such as paraquat and atrazine are banned in parts of the world. Herbicides fall under HS subheading 3808.93 when formulated.
