Handling, storage and disposal
Summaries only, follow the supplier SDS for your grade
Safe handling
Fire: NO open flames, NO sparks and NO smoking. Above 31 °C use a closed system, ventilation and explosion-proof electrical equipment. Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges (e.g., by grounding).
General: PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS!
Inhalation: Use ventilation, local exhaust or breathing protection.
Skin: Protective gloves.
Eyes: Wear safety goggles.
Ingestion: Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Storage
Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants. Store in an area without drain or sewer access.
Disposal
Burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber but exert extra care in igniting as this material is highly flammable. Offer surplus and non-recyclable solutions to a licensed disposal company. Contact a licensed professional waste disposal service to dispose of this material. SRP: Wastewater from contaminant suppression, cleaning of protective clothing/equipment, or contaminated sites should be contained and evaluated for subject chemical or decomposition product concentrations. Concentrations shall be lower than applicable environmental discharge or disposal criteria. Alternatively, pretreatment and/or discharge to a permitted wastewater treatment facility is acceptable only after review by the governing authority and assurance that "pass through" violations will not occur.
Exposure limits and toxicity
Occupational exposure limits and toxicity data
- NIOSH REL, TWA
- 200 ppm (1050 mg/m³)
- ACGIH TLV, 8-hour TWA
- 200 ppm
Short-term exposure: The substance is irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system. Exposure to the vapour could cause lowering of consciousness. If swallowed the substance easily enters the airways and could result in aspiration pneumonitis. Long-term exposure: The substance defats the skin, which may cause dryness or cracking.
