Anti dumping duty
Definition
An extra import duty on goods from specific countries or companies that are exported below their normal value and harm local industry.
Anti dumping duties follow an investigation under WTO rules. In India, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies investigates and recommends duties, and the Ministry of Finance imposes them. Duties usually name the product, the countries of origin and sometimes the exporting companies with their own rates.
Many chemicals carry anti dumping duties in India, the EU, the US and other markets. Check before agreeing a delivered price, because the duty can change the landed cost a lot.
