MOQ (minimum order quantity)
Definition
The smallest quantity a supplier will accept for one order.
MOQ is usually set by batch size, packing unit or the cost of handling small orders. For bulk chemicals it is often one pallet, one drum layer or one full container, while specialty and lab suppliers may sell grams or kilograms.
If you need less than the MOQ, ask whether the supplier can offer a sample size, a trader stock lot or a higher unit price for a smaller pack. Always state your expected annual volume in a request for quote, because it changes how suppliers treat a small first order.
