About high-purity wet process chemicals
High purity wet process chemicals clean, etch and strip wafers and panels. The group includes sulfuric acid, hydrogen peroxide, hydrofluoric acid and buffered oxide etch, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, ammonium hydroxide, isopropyl alcohol, tetramethylammonium hydroxide developers, and solvent strippers based on NMP, DMSO and amines.

Classic cleaning sequences combine these chemicals, for example sulfuric acid with hydrogen peroxide for organic removal and ammonia or hydrochloric acid with hydrogen peroxide for particle and metal removal. As chip features shrink, purity requirements tighten, with metal limits now in parts per trillion and particle counts measured at sizes below 50 nanometres.
Grades follow SEMI standards or individual customer specifications. Ask for the grade level, assay, individual metal and anion limits, particle counts, packaging (high density polyethylene or PFA lined containers and bulk ISO tanks) and the filling and analysis environment. Fabs qualify each chemical and each plant, so changes in supplier, plant or raw material need advance notice. Spent acid and solvent recycling services are increasingly part of supply contracts.
