GHS09 environment

Definition

Pictogram for substances hazardous to the aquatic environment.

GHS09: Environment
Pictogram GHS09, drawn for illustration

GHS09 (environment) is one of the nine GHS hazard pictograms, a black symbol on a white diamond with a red border.

Used for: acute aquatic hazard category 1 and chronic aquatic hazard categories 1 and 2.

In transport the same idea appears as the environmentally hazardous substance mark (a fish and tree). The US OSHA hazard communication standard does not make this pictogram mandatory because environmental hazards fall outside its scope.
