Grades and purity
FCC grade (Food Chemicals Codex)
Definition
Material that meets the Food Chemicals Codex monograph, a widely used standard for food ingredients.
The Food Chemicals Codex is a compendium of standards for food ingredients such as additives, processing aids and flavouring agents. It is published by USP and recognised by the US FDA and by regulators and buyers in many other countries.
FCC grade states that a batch meets the identity, assay and impurity limits of the monograph. It is often combined with other claims such as kosher or halal certification.
