Kosher certification
Definition
Certification by a kosher agency that an ingredient and its production meet Jewish dietary law.
Kosher certificates are issued by kosher agencies after reviewing raw materials and production, and sometimes include a status such as pareve or a note on Passover use. Food, flavour and some pharmaceutical buyers ask for them.
The certificate should list the exact products and the plant that makes them. A certificate for one site does not cover the same product made elsewhere.
