Regulatory
CLP Regulation
Definition
The EU regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of substances and mixtures, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, based on the GHS.
CLP implements the UN GHS in the European Union. It sets the hazard classes and criteria, label elements, packaging rules and harmonised classifications listed in Annex VI. Companies placing hazardous substances on the EU market must notify their classification to ECHA's classification and labelling inventory.
CLP keeps a few EU specific elements, such as EUH statements, and adds hazard classes beyond the UN text, for example for endocrine disruption.
