About synthesis reagents
Synthesis reagents are the tools chemists use to build molecules. The group includes coupling reagents such as EDC, DCC, HATU, HBTU, PyBOP and T3P, protecting group reagents such as Boc anhydride, Fmoc chloride, benzyl bromide and tert-butyldimethylsilyl chloride, halogenating agents such as N-bromosuccinimide, thionyl chloride and phosphorus oxychloride, hydride reagents such as sodium borohydride, lithium aluminium hydride and DIBAL, oxidants such as Dess-Martin periodinane and TEMPO, organometallic reagents, and bases such as LDA and sodium hydride.

Ask for assay, water, appearance, packaging under inert gas where needed, and the stability and storage conditions. Many reagents react with water or air, some are shock sensitive or explosive (for example HOBt in dry form), and others release toxic gases. Check transport classification early because it affects lead time and cost. Some reagents are controlled as precursors, so expect end-use checks.
