Regulatory
PESO
Definition
India's Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation, which licenses storage and transport of petroleum, explosives, compressed gases and ammonium nitrate.
PESO works under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. It administers the Explosives Act and the Petroleum Act and the rules made under them, including rules for gas cylinders, pressure vessels and ammonium nitrate.
Storing flammable solvents above set quantities, filling gas cylinders or importing explosives and ammonium nitrate usually needs a PESO licence.
