Regulatory
MSIHC Rules, 1989
Definition
India's Manufacture, Storage and Import of Hazardous Chemical Rules, made under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
The MSIHC Rules list hazardous and toxic chemicals in schedules and set duties for sites that make, store or import them above threshold quantities, such as safety reports, on site emergency plans and notification to authorities. Importers of listed chemicals must share safety information and keep records.
India has also been preparing broader chemical management rules, so check the current position before importing a large volume of a new chemical.
