ISO 14001

Definition

The international standard for environmental management systems.

ISO 14001 sets requirements for managing a company's environmental aspects, such as emissions, effluent, waste and legal compliance, through a plan, do, check, act cycle.

Large buyers often include ISO 14001 in supplier qualification, together with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety. As with all certificates, check the scope, the site covered and the expiry date.
