Polymers and thermoplastics

Thermoplastics are supplied as pellets, powders, flakes or solutions, and every producer offers dozens of grades. Grade choice depends on the process and the product, for example a high melt flow polypropylene for thin-wall injection moulding or a low-density polyethylene for film. Compounds add fillers, glass fibre, colour or flame retardants to the base polymer.

Ask for the producer grade or a full property set, including melt flow index, density, tensile and impact properties, heat deflection temperature, and the additive package. Request food contact, medical or toy compliance documents when needed. Polymers in primary forms fall under HS chapter 39, with headings 3901 to 3914 organised by polymer type.
