Supplements, functional foods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals use these compounds. Diosmin and hesperidin are vascular protective drugs in many countries, and many flavonoids are sold as standardised extracts with a stated marker content. Pure compounds serve research and analytical standards.

Ask whether you are buying a pure compound or an extract, the purity or marker content by HPLC, the plant source, extraction solvent, residual solvents, pesticide residues, heavy metals and microbial limits. Synthetic and fermentation-derived versions exist for some compounds, such as resveratrol. Health claims are strictly regulated, so rely on supplier data only for quality, not for marketing claims.
